We, all students of Guruji, have been eagerly waiting to learn about
the programme as a part of the celebration of Guruji's 90th birthday.

First and foremost, there will be no special classes which will be
conducted to commemorate this event. The entire programme will be a
cultural bonanza divided into two parts.

There will be a cultural programme in Pune from the 12th of December
till the 14th of December. This will include exposition to Classical
Music, Dance and even theatre amongst a variety of other items.

This will be followed by a 4-day cultural trip to Bangalore, Bellur,
Belur-Hallebeid, Sravanbelagola, Mysore, Somnathpur and back to
Bangalore. This trip would commence from Bangalore on the 17th and end
at Bangalore on the 19th or 20th (both days inclusive).

Respected Guruji is expected to accompany the participants on this
tour. The participants would be expected to organize their own travel
from Pune to Bangalore (we will definitely guide and help them in this
regard). Once in Bangalore, the participants would be picked from the
airport/bus station/railway station and the lodging, boarding, local
travel, guides would be taken care by us. The approximate costs would
be informed to you shortly. Bangalore has an international airport so
those desirous can even fly out to their respective countries out of
Bangalore. The programme is open to all students of Iyengar Yoga and
their family members.

Students are requested to inform the respective representatives in
their country if they are interested in participating in the
programmes in Pune, the trip to South India or both. We will be
sending application forms for the same soon.

BRIEF INFORMATION ON THE PLACES THAT HAVE BEEN SELECTED FOR THE TOUR:

Bellur: the birth place of Guruji and the location of the world's
only Patanjali temple. It is interesting and touching to see the work
accomplished by the Bellur Trust in the short span of time.

BELUR-HALEBEID: This is a heritage site located abut 225 kms from
Bangalore. It houses the famous temple complexes built over 103 years
and completed in 117 AD. The façade of these temples are The facade of
the temple is filled with intricate sculptures with no portion left
blank with carvings of elephants, deities, episodes from the epics
amongst many other things. Each of the 650 charging elephants carved
on the frieze on the walls are all different.

Sravabelagola: The world's tallest monolithic statute which is 17
metres tall.

MYSORE: This is a city of palaces, gardens and sacred temples which
retains the charms of the old world. The palace built between
1897-1912 is famed for its architecture and interiors with its glazed
tiled flooring and stained glass, domed ceiling and intricately carved
doors. It houses a museum which has an exquisite paintings, paintings,
sculptures and musical instruments dating back to 1800s.
Interestingly, it was in this palace that Guruji's Guru Sri T.
Krishnamachar taught yoga. In addition, Mysore is famed for its Bird
Sanctuary, Zoo and the BrindavanGardens.

SOMNATHPURA: Famous for its temple built in the 13th century. The
temple is famous for its elaborate details in the carvings and its
